Praying to a responsive God by Deon Crafford

Daniel 9:18-19 “O my God, incline your ear and hear. Open your eyes and see our desolations, and the city that is called by your name. For we do not present our pleas before you because of our righteousness, but because of your great mercy. O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive. O Lord, pay attention and act. Delay not, for your own sake, O my God, because your city and your people are called by your name.”

In the Garden of Gethsemane Jesus prays in deep anguish to the Father for the cup of suffering to pass Him by. Would He do that if He knows that when God’s mind is made up, that is it? Or does He do so in knowing the love of the Father who not only has His ear inclined towards us, but also responds to our prayers and petitions. Jesus nevertheless commits to God’s will, and we know why – because the answer God gives still touches each one of us personally right now. There is no such thing as unanswered prayer, it is just that the canvas on which God works are so magnificently bigger than the personal pocket book page on which I write my prayer or petition. God will respond to me, and Jesus confirmed this when He said that whatever you ask, you will receive, if you have faith – note, if you have faith. Let me not for a moment doubt that God’s relationship with me is deeply personal and present; in which His merciful and loving heart is completely attuned to my whole being – as framed in my prayers. I am indeed bringing a worship-enveloped petition to the God of the Universe, the Beginning and the End, who even in His incredible power, may change His paths to respond to my microscopic personal situation and challenges. Let the magnitude of this Love sink in.
