Hope is alive by Deon Crafford

1 Peter 1:3-5 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Some people snigger at the story of God creating man, as though this is one big fantasy. Surely they say man is just a natural evolutionary development, discounting the fact that genetic science has already proved this wrong as did the second law of thermodynamics. Be that as it may, in His creation of man, it is written, “God formed man out of dirt from the ground and blew into his nostrils the breath of life. The Man came alive – a living soul.” Your and my lives are lived on the breath of God, which does not expire. The perishable body will go as it had for millenniums, but the breathed life will go on, and that is why were are gifted a living hope in Jesus Christ. It is this living hope that provides us unfailing joy. Yes even the troubles of this world cannot snuff out this joy, in fact it ironically serves to enhance the joy. It is a joy based on so much more awaiting us, a joy that provides us with the ability to endure and a joy that allows us to fully expend ourselves in loving those that God love. This last part is our most difficult challenge because not all people are equally lovable. But we are called to store up treasures in heaven, and I can only imagine that this shall be the souls of those who saw because we loved. We’re immersed in a living hope from which so much good can flow from us.

Love to all
