Gather to sow by Deon Crafford

Phil 4:11-13 Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

1 Cor 4:7. For who sees anything different in you? What do you have that you did not receive? If then you received it, why do you boast as if you did not receive it?

There are few things in the world that can crush the morale of a person more than the possibility of running out of money. We live in a world where success is just about always measured in money. Even the achievements of the greatest sport stars are forgotten in the recording of their career earnings from the sport. Self-esteem is measured in wealth, hence the luxuries the wealthy use to affirm themselves. Not just the wealthy one would need to say – because so many enter into great debt because they buy what they think will make them feel better about themselves. Its always interesting to note that Warren Buffet, arguably one of the wealthiest in the world, live in a modest house, as did Anton Rupert in South Africa. Somehow these folks I think realised that money is fleeting and it cannot be the sole purpose of life. And yet to tell a struggling person that God will provide, often feels so empty and incompetent. But then, there are countless people who put their faith in God and who will today attest that He provided – sometimes in inexplicable ways. God had a purpose for each one of us, and He will sustain us to see this purpose through. This purpose is never to gather and hold, but to gather and sow. Our hope is in the knowledge that God will provide the seed, if we’re prepared to sow.

Love to all
