Hope for my children by Deon Crafford

Proverbs 14:26 In the fear of the Lord one has strong confidence, and his children will have a refuge.

Luke 11:11-13 What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent; or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

If we had any doubt on why God would bestow on us, so undeservingly, the most wonderful gift of children, then perhaps we should look at how He defines his relationship with us – as a Parent. God the Father relates to us a His children; loving us, guiding us; disciplining us; rejoicing in us; protecting us; blessing us; trusting us; allowing us to stand on our own two feet. He deals with our disobedience, our rebelliousness, our disappointing Him; our disrespecting Him, our neglecting Him, by continuing to love us with the same fire He has always loved us. His grace supercedes anything we as children can do to disappoint. And to us as parents He grants the same grace – day in and day out – to be able to love our children through all their growing up and troubles. Is there hope when your child is struggling to come to terms the things of life? Of course there is. The same hope that surrounds my life through the living Christ, is imparted through the Holy Spirit in me, to impart to my child. Thus I become and will always be able to represent hope to my child.

Love to all
