The Temple restored by Deon Crafford
Matthew 27:39-40 And those who passed by derided him, wagging their heads and saying, “You who would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself! If you are the Son of God, come down from the cross.”
Once we were so vile that our presence in God’s temple defiled it. We remember how Jesus scattered and whipped those who turned the temple into a place of greed. We also remember how at Jesus’ giving up His spirit, the temple veil tore from top to bottom, signifying its future irrelevance. Why? Because in the resurrection of Christ the Temple was restored. No longer the bricks and mortar version, but now the temple of flesh and spirit – the temple of you and I. Christ indeed restored the temple – he broke the relationship of guilt and perpetual atonement, and restored it with a relationship of freedom and grace forever. Only the risen Christ could have done this. When Jesus departed the grave, He walked straight into your life and my life. He is alive indeed!
