Poor Nutrition by Deon Crafford

Hebrews 5:12-14. About this we have much to say, and it is hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing. For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the basic principles of the oracles of God. You need milk, not solid food, for everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, since he is a child. But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.

“You are what you eat”, is a statement we have heard often in presentations about good diets and health. In today’ modern world there are so many processed foods that it has started to create health crises, with more and more people ending up with chronic disease. As a counter to this, health professionals are urging us to return to eating non-processed foods – as they occur in their most basic form (with a little cooking added). In the stressed environments most of us operate (that’s just life), good and wholesome food is well-advised. Then we won’t need to supplement our intake with tablet, powders and potions. My Spiritual Life is very similar. I am so vulnerable to the intake of processed junk that I stand a good chance of developing chronic low-faith disease. Entertainment processing, social media curing, church-based drivel and self-help literature, to name a few, are what is making me end up with popcorn and candy-floss instead of a protein-based diet – strong in substance, truth and Gospel. In my weakened state, the world soon overpowers me and leaves me in a pathetic bundle of angst. Why? Because Spiritually I have become what I have taken in and I have taken in junk because I failed to discern and failed to commit myself to my First Love. But I merely need to turn in my tracks, and God’s protein power is there. I must just stop taking in junk.

Love to all
