Leftover Love by Deon Crafford

Haggai 1:9-10  You looked for much, and behold, it came to little. And when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why, declares the Lord of hosts. Because of my house that lies in ruins, while each of you busies himself with his own house. Therefore the heavens above you have withheld the dew, and the earth has withheld its produce.

Few of us – or the people I know – would admit to being guilty of sloth, one of the so-called seven deadly sins. Because we’d hold, we really work hard, do an honest day’s job and earn our wages. But what though if we were confronted on “sloth” as to the things of God, or as to our relationship with Jesus. Is it not that we give the world the kitchen sink of our energy, intellect, tenacity and endurance, but my relationship with God runs on leftovers, or whatever I have spare? Is it not that I will always be on time for the world, but God’s things can wait till I’m ready or feel like it? Is it not that we will grind our way through piles of work even while seriously sick, but God loses out when I feel slightly tired? You see, in the relationship with Jesus, He gave us His all, and we give Him our leftovers. And yet He is patient with us, because His love has no bounds and entails all of what He is. Since we’re empowered for service, let not spiritual sloth render us ineffective. May I justify God’s trust in me.

Love to all
