Enough by Deon Crafford

2 Corinthians 12:7-9 So to keep me from becoming conceited because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to harass me, to keep me from becoming conceited. Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

Envy is a very difficult matter to preach or write a piece on. There is no doubt that it is a deadly sin – God made that quite clear in the Ten Commandments already when He said “thou shalt not covet”. But your own position of have or have not will always determine how your message is received. It’s quite simple though, there is not one of us with whom it cannot be better – materially and in the flesh. And when that better has captivated our faculties, envy has buried its claws in us. We’re captured. Our problems come when we allow the physical to dominate the spiritual, because when we dwell in the Spiritual, we have enough or even more than enough as Paul states “him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think”. If I fall trap to envy – and we all do – the remedy is to see Christ; to expand my view of Him so that He takes up my entire screen or perspective on my life. And when enough happens, peace follows.
