When Love is lost by Deon Crafford

Ephesians 4:15-16 Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.

What Paul admonished the Ephesian church to hold onto, is exactly what they lost by the time John penned the Revelation letters of Christ to the seven churches in Asia minor. What happens to a church when it loses its first love – the exclusive and intimate relationship with Christ? It keeps running full programmes, serve up great sermons, perform incredible worship sessions, build imposing auditoriums and appoint numerous full-time office bearers. It goes big on marketing and attracting celebrities who will again bring more people into the church. On the outside it appears that this is an “on fire” church, but when you scratch the surface to find what it is “on fire” for, the real shows up. And the real, like the Ephesian church is that Christ no longer is central to the worship and the passion, but has been relegated to a spiritual sponsor, that enables man or woman to build around him or herself.

Love to all
